ForestBased Solutions
work is based on multi-stakeholder engagement specializing in private
partnerships and market based conservation initiatives. We have direct
experience with public and private sector priorities.
On the private sector side, we work with our clients to proactively gain commitments from suppliers on transparency of supply chains
and origin of products.
We have organized in-country site visits for clients to meet producers
and understand the issues at the governmental level, with businesses, in
the communities and in the forest. We work directly with our clients
supply chain to implement certification and verification systems. We use
a holistic approach to supply chain management that emphasizes
awareness of issues, direct relationships, legality, verification,
competitive advantage and sustainability. We describe this approach as
Future-thinkingPositive Risk Management.
Our key goal is to build the
systems for sustainable supply chain engagement from producer to the showroom floor.
We understand how to:
Source
and develop business relationships in high risk areas.
Move producers and supply chains into stepwise approaches and certification
Invest in enterprises that will benefit local people.
Communicate technical issues of resource management.
Implement systems that are cost effective and are implemented in a practical time frame.
On the NGO side, we have developed landscape level and species specific
program strategies for organizations working in international
development, conservation and ecosystem services. We build capacity for
scale and market access for products from forest and natural resource
dependent communities. Partnership, enterprise development and capacity
building are key elements of these strategies.
We
have worked in Africa, Asia, South and Central America, Europe and the
United States. Countries include: Madagascar, Rwanda, Gabon, Cameroon,
Uganda, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Belize, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Tanzania, India and Paraguay.
ForestBased Solutions involves not just the products it involves a way of life.

We provided public private partnership and community investment models for eco-tourism in Uganda and Rwanda
We provided systems for tracking forest products and completing Lacey Act Due Diligence for forest product producers and manufacturers in Asia, Africa, South and Central America and in the US and Europe.
We provided technical services for building successful public private partnerships that included ecosystem services and supply chain management for major musical instrument manufacturers including working with NGOs and government bodies in key forest production areas used for musical instrument parts.
